Charities require money and support in order to carry out their good work. Attending and supporting a cause at a one off event is how many people give to charity and some have a couple of charities that they donate to on a regular basis. People from every level of society have been attending charitable functions for centuries. The royal family are probably the largest benefactor family in Great Britain, raising millions of pounds for various charities and causes, the Prince’s Trust being one of the most notable. Every level of society is represented in charitable giving.
Organising an event is all about targeting the right audience for your cause. Men and women tend to donate to charities that affect them more personally, for example women dominate charitable giving to breast cancer organisations. There are also variations from region to region, parents and pet owners donate differently to people without dependants. Invite those people already affiliated with your cause and those who you think are likely to donate and you will probably raise more money at your event.
Make sure that you promote your fund raising event within the local community and entice people to come by hiring an after dinner speaker. Celebrities especially have puling power and often participate in an auction which can bring large amounts of money into the charity.
Through funny speeches and exciting anecdotes, an after dinner speaker will make your event memorable. This will hopefully create future donations from guests that had not previously donated but now remember your cause and want to support it.
It is easy to raise large amounts of money in a single evening at a fund raising event. They can be expensive to host however you could try having the food and drink for the event donated by a local company as this will reduce the amount you spend. The less it costs to host your event, the more money that will go directly to your cause, which is why you held the event in the first place.
