Persuasive speech topics
Persuasive speech topics have all been selected based on several criteria. Those criteria are: who is your audience? And what do you want them to do?
A great way to start is to work out what you want to achieve for your presentation. Is it about getting someone to buy something from you? Do you want to get someone to come on a date with you? Do you have business goals? Maybe you just want to get a foot in the door and get that interview and getting hired? Or even, getting that big promotion…?
Remember, almost all conversations between people involves selling yourself. Selling your talents, your skills, your products, your charm and personality… And anything else where you want to get a result.
Persuasive speech topics are all about convincing another human being to take an action which you desire them to take. The thing is, that they may not necessarily have the same objectives that you do. To overcome their objections, you can come up with a concise catelogue of all the benefits that you will deliver as a result of the other person following your lead. It is also equally, if not more, important to make a note of every conceivable idea they may have for saying no. These are known as objections, and being prepared for them beforehand puts you in a strong position.
Once you have identified the possible objections and your solutions to them as part of your persuasion tactics will get your prospects on your side. Even more powerful still is to tell them that you too were once plagued by those exact same doubts. This was up until the point that, someone else showed you the better way. This is, of course the same solution you are about to share with your audience.
Being enthusiastic is another secret that the pros use. I’m sure you can recall many times when you sat there…bored out of your mind while someone up there on the stage droned on monotonously while you studied your watch…waiting for it to be over…!
Persuasive speeches are made up of art and science .
Know your stuff. Be the expert !
You can do this over a weekend by getting to a library and reading as much as possible on your subject. the majority of the people in the USA haven’t read a book since they left school. Because of this it’s pretty straighforward to become the expert. Isn’t that all an expert is ? A person who is aware of more facts than everyone else.
Make sure that you are that person… THE expert. People that you talk to will listen to more of the information you give them and will be able to recall more of it . To learn more about this I recommend the book “Influence ” by Irving Gottman.
He details out all of the traits that will distinguish you in front of your audience. Read it, use it and be amazed at how much more receptive your audiences will be.
Mastering persuasive speaking is one of the greatest assets any person being can master. It takes repetition and, while a lucky few are born with the Blarney Stone tightly gripped between their teeth, most of us learn through being trained in one of the many public speaking courses that you can find. Andrew Rondeau has teamed up with Darren Lacroix to create an excellent course that takes you through creating a world-beating presentation including choosing the most persuasive speech topics and HOW to deliver them like a pro.
