sage software

I have been struggling for a while with my bookkeeping and I wanted to share with you a shortcut that I discovered after a lot of trial and error. People in startups tend to prefer doing more important jobs such as finding, knowing and keeping customers as opposed to looking after their accounting. Accounting is a ‘chore’ that many people enjoy doing but must be undertaken on a consistent basis to avoid problems.

When I initially started out my accountant suggested or should I say insisted that I used a small business accounting software package made by a corporation called Sage Software. I instantly went out and bought the software without even contemplating if it was the right choice. This was arguably one of the biggest mistakes I made as the system turned out to be really hard to understand and use. To be straight with you whenever I find the word accounting together with the word software I am always reminded of the first wisdom I need to share with you and that is the majority of small business accounting software makes the assumption you have a good working knowledge of bookkeeping.

Just like me small business people are masters of their craft and the product or service they sell and not accounting but in my situation I was driven to devote time to finding a system that would work for me. It was really worthwhile doing this as I discovered a more functional solution than I could ever of imagined named salesorder.com.

Definitely the best application I have discovered, salesorder.com works on the web and is really well designed and of course lets me work anywhere I can connect to the net. And here is the coolest bit I want to tell you, the team at salesorder.com know their subject, just like their system they are a joy to work with and better still are happy to spend substantial time with their customers (even the free ones) helping people like me to understand and address real issues in my business and to top it off they have coached me in the accounting I need to know.
