Many people could benefit from an acne diet. After all, who has not heard the saying that chocolate gives you pimples? We almost all have. So instead of causing a break out, you could prevent it by watching what you eat.
Nevertheless, a good acne diet is not easy to develop. This is very personal and its based on your body’s unique response to certain foods. There are guidelines, but each individual’s progress will mostly be trial and error. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your skin. Write it all down. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.
Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:
* Take in a lot more protein - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. This is because protein contains an enzyme that limits the production of oil. Oily skin is very vulnerable to breakouts.
* Carbohydrates are not good - Don’t cut yourself off completely. But you should keep them limited to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because there are compounds in carbohydrates that can stimulate oil production. For this reason common knowledge indicates that junk food causes acne. In reality junk food just has a high carb content.
* 3. Drink green tea - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Green tea holds back androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will wreak havoc on your skin.
* Restrict your salt intake - Iodine is usually found in salt. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.
In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. Natural and organic skin care lines are the best acne prone skin. These are the least likely to irritate your skin. You might want to start buying mineral makeup, that is if you wear makeup. Dermatologists are under the belief that mineral makeup can fully help alleviate your acne problems while enhancing the results of your acne diet.
